5 minutes with Tanya ...
Tell us a little about you
I'm not sure how to start! I'm a "follower of the Way" as the early church said it... A wife to Tim Sheerman, a hilarious and gifted youth work manager. I'm a worship leader. I am studying my PhD. I secretly let in the neighbour's cat while they are at work (borrowing pets is the *best*) and I drink way too much coffee.
What's your favourite bible passage & why?
There are so many!!! But I love reading about Deborah under the palm trees in Judges, bringing wisdom to Israel.
How do you keep your eyes fixed on Jesus?
Sometimes it can be challenging, can't it! I find inspiration in the Word that keeps me focused on Christ. And many Indigenous Australian Christians inspire me to understand our Creator better.
What would you like the next generation of Christian women to know?
It's okay to be *you*. It's not about what you look like or how many Instagram followers you have. You are enough.
What's one thing that you love about your church?
Oh it's amazing... I love that it's free enough that we can dance and nobody is glancing over... I love the women (and men!) there, their godliness, their generosity and humour. I bet Jesus loved to laugh. What did you learn about God at a time in your life you found hard?
I'm in the last stages of my PhD, and it feels hard. I am learning not to compare myself materially or spiritually with others; just run my race with endurance.
What are you passionate about?
The voices of ordinary Christians, who are living in ways that shows Christ to our world. Amplifying them is one of my greatest joys .
What do you enjoy doing when you rest?
It's embarrassing... I play The Sims 4. Haaaa. Our little secret.
