- Tell us a little about you
I am a passionate primary school teacher married to another passionate primary teacher. I love cooking, travelling, being by the water and meeting new people.
- What’s your favourite bible passage and why?
This is the hardest question! My favourite scripture changes daily depending on what I’m reading and what revelation I’ve had for the day. Psalm 61 is always a go though in my mind when life is busy and stressful. I love how The Message translation words verses 3-4, "You’ve always given me breathing room, a place to get away from it all, A lifetime pass to your safe-house, an open invitation as your guest.”
- How do you keep your eyes fixed on Jesus?
I love my daily devotions, I love listening to worship music but the one thing for me that keeps Jesus in my mind is talking to others about Him. I’m blessed to be able to do this all day in my teaching which helps. I love hearing how God is working in the lives of others and sharing stories of His goodness.
- What would you like the next generation of Christian women to know?
I’ll change this question to be what would I want the next generation of women to experience! I would love them to have the opportunity to do life in someone else’s shoes, to see and know a broader experience of Christ and be committed to serving those less fortunate in our own communities and further afield. For me I have seen the richest growth in my faith when I’ve taken God out of the cultural box I had put Him in, and been able to celebrate miracles of His Spirit at work in different ways.
- What’s one thing that you love about your local church?
I love that the churches in my community are all seeking partnership and not competing for numbers in seats. They are seeking to work together for God’s purposes. I believe where there is unity in Christ’s name there is the potential for revival!
- What did you learn about God at a time in your life you found hard?
Hosea 6:3 has been a comfort - As surely as the sun will rise, He will come to us. I cling to this promise daily.
- What are you passionate about?
I’m passionate about teaching all the children in my school that God has created them differently for a unique purpose. I’m passionate about equipping Rwandan schools with tools to enable them to grow in their creative thinking so they have the opportunity to get above the poverty line. I’m passionate about teaching my classes that they can be change makers, and work to repair communities such as Rwanda which have experienced the worst of a broken society. I’m passionate about connecting people, as I have been the recipient of life changing introductions.
- What do you enjoy doing when you rest?
I live by the beach so a swim, a walk or just sitting and watching the waves roll in is the most wonderful place to be for me. When the weather’s not great I love to read historical fiction and am guilty of often spending hours on Instagram looking at travel pictures and dreaming of possible adventures to be had one day.
