5 minutes with Kaye ...

- Tell us a little about you

I am married to Francis, have four grown up children and a very old staffy called Custard. I love it when it is loud and I love it when it is quiet - both in equal measure. I love it when my family gets together, and I love having people who stay for an hour, a day, a week, or longer. I have spent a lot of my adult life studying and I particularly love learning about learning and qualitative research. And I love trees.

- What's your favourite bible passage & why?

I love Job 19:25-27. I love the sense of yearning and fulfilment in this passage. There are times when everything seem stripped away; maybe because things are not going as expected, or because I hear yet another anti-Christian sentiment being expressed. This passage reminds me that God has got everything in control, and while I can't always see the big picture, I can trust that He is there and rest in his eternal hope.

- How do you keep your eyes fixed on Jesus?

I don't think it is easy to keep my eyes fixed on Jesus. There are so many things that can drag me away from making him front and centre in my life. I try to start the day with prayer. As soon as the alarm goes off my husband and I pray together. I use the Prayer Mate app in my own prayers, and try to pray as things come up in the day. I love reading John's Gospel and often return to it. I have some wonderful friends and a great church that all help me focus on Jesus.

- What would you like the next generation of Christian women to know?

That God loves them and forgives them. That there are great and wonderful and exciting ways to serve God. That their value and worth comes from being made in God's image. And that God is at work.

- What's one thing that you love about your local church?

I love my bible study group. I love the church's pastoral heart and willingness to deal with the challenging issues in the Bible.

- What did you learn about God at a time in your life you found hard?

That prayer works! God is always there. I am amazed by how God has answered my prayers and carried me through the shadowy times. I have found that God answers prayers in the minutiae, using people and situations in the most amazing ways.

- What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about teaching that opens up the Bible in a way that is engaging and exciting.

- What do you enjoy doing when you rest?

I love to read and to write. It is great when I find an author that I love. It is even better when I find one who has written lots of books so that I can work my way through them all.

I also love to play board games with my grown up children.
