5 minutes with Emma ...

What's your favourite bible passage & why?

Luke 1:37 FOR NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD. This scripture gave me Hope when I first met Jesus at 22 years old. I was broken and angry, and somewhat dysfunctional! This was one of the first scriptures I read and it jumped out the page at me. It gave me Hope that God could redeem and restore and it has stuck with me every since. I’ve also found it to be true time and time again.

How do you keep your eyes fixed on Jesus?

A question I often find myself asking God is “Ok, Where are you right now?”. When I am feeling overwhelmed or hurt I have to make a conscious decision to shift my focus, turn my affection toward Him and ask “Where are you, and what are you saying about this?”. Worship music will always shift my heart to engage with his and I often find this to be a beautiful conduit of his presence that shifts my heart to see His perspective on things. It’s a conscious decision to do this but a good default to create.

What would you like the next generation of Christian women to know?

One of my favourite quotes is “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.” Margaret Mead

We are that group, and it doesn’t matter how small of insignificant you feel you are, you are the change. I want the next generation of women to rise and know they have a voice. They have the ability to create a tidal wave of change that will not only impact their generation but future generations to come. So go out and get your hands dirty! Have a go because it will be worth it. Be a trailblazer. Ask God what it is you have been created to do on this earth and give it all you’ve got.

What's one thing that you love about your local church?

I think the local church is an integral part of our Christian walk, surrounding ourselves with like minded people we can learn from, grow with and pray with. Hebrews 10:25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

What did you learn about God at a time in your life you found hard?

That God is bigger than anything that I’ve ever done or that has been done to me. What Jesus did for us on the cross is bigger, holds more weight, and more power. God really took me on a journey of forgiveness in one season of my life and he showed me that he restores everything. Not only the abused but the abuser. He restores it all. And understanding his Heart for people and his heart for forgiveness and redemption really shifted my perspective on so many things.

What are you passionate about?

People walking in full healing and restoration. I see and meet so many women who are not living life to their full potential because they are carrying wounds from the past, some from years and years ago. Our God is a healer and HE wants to heal us more than we want to be healed!. I’m passionate about women walking in full healing and restoration and fulfilling the call God placed on their life.

What do you enjoy doing when you rest?

Silence! And bush walking. I love silence, I can sit in a room or a car in silence for a long time! I also love bushwalking, I find being out with nature and fresh air beautifully calming and therapeutic. [Editors note: buy / pre order Skinny Roads album on iTunes here]
