5 minutes with Heidi ...
Tell us a little about yourself I'm a working mum of two 'tweens' who lives in the Hills in north-west Sydney. I've been married for 18 years and it was the best decision I've ever made - apart from following Jesus. That first happened when I was 8 in Sunday School, then I reaffirmed my commitment at a Youth Alive concert (gee, these things really make you feel old, huh?!). I work for a public utility in the regulatory team and love my job (lots of report writing - I love the written form of communication). Still trying to find that elusive work-life balance though... What's your favourite bible passage & why? 'Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.' 1 Peter 5:7 This verse encourages me when I am stressed out and reminds me that God, not me, is really in control. Phew! How do you keep your eyes fixed on Jesus? I read recently in another one of these posts that this question assumes I do this. I'd also like to confess that so many days I feel like I don't keep my eyes fixed on Christ. But on my good days, I do this by starting the day with prayer, spending time reading His word and regularly and frequently choosing to serve Him by serving others, rather than myself. What would you like the next generation of Christian women to know? That there is neither Jew nor Greek, slave not free, male nor female in Christ's eyes. What's one thing that you love about your local church? It's rocking youth ministry. I'm super grateful for the faithful service of the young adults that serve the high school students week in and week out. What did you learn about God at a time in your life you found hard? That He will never let me go, even when I'm in the depths of grief. Our first child was still-born in 2003. It took me a long time to stop feeling angry at God, but I never felt abandoned by Him. What are you passionate about? I know this sounds boring but I'm not sure I'm 'passionate' about any one thing. I desire to live a worthy life, to know Christ and make Him known and to be a good wife, mum, worker, daughter, sister and friend. What do you enjoy doing when you rest? Exercise! Especially aerobics. It's a great mental and physical break from my desk-bound job and also a good sleep help. And let's face it, who doesn't love a set of plyometric lunges! 😜
