5 minutes with Adela ...
A bit about myself: As a third culture kid life growing up has consisted of a lot of moving and travel but I currently live in Melbourne, Australia. I love the buzz of the city but also the scenic views of nature that the city does not offer. I really enjoy making most things arts and crafts, especially drawing and painting. I am currently a uni student studying science and hope to do dentistry down the track. Having been born in Indonesia I hope to one day go back there for mission work.
What’s your favourite bible passage and why? One of my favourites would have to be John 15:1-17 ‘The Vine and the Branches’ because it addresses important topics so succinctly such as God being the one in control, our redemption, our dependency on God to live fruitful lives through His power, His great love for us and that He wants us to enjoy Him, and to extend the love that we’ve received from Him to others.
How do you keep your eyes fixed on Jesus? By reminding myself that Jesus loves me –reflecting and reminding myself who Jesus is, the greatness of His love and how He has made me His child (He accepts us as a ‘nobody’ and makes us a ‘somebody’!). Also by reading His word and asking Him to show me more of Himself.
What would you like the next generation of Christian women to know? You are a beloved daughter of the King of Kings who is a relational, righteous ruler! Rest in the unconditional and incomparable love of your Heavenly Father from whom you are dependent on; draw from His strength. Your worth is found in no one other than Jesus Christ who has given you His power to turn away from sin and live bold and courageous lives as daughters of light!
What’s one thing that you love about your local church? I love how there’s a strong sense of community and encouragement by sharing with one another the work that God is doing in our lives.
What did you learn about God at a time in your life you found hard? That He is indeed present with you all the time and cares for all your needs if you let Him (no matter how trivial they may seem!). God really does provide a rest and a peace beyond our understanding even in the midst of chaos. If you want him to take control of the steering wheel in your life you’ll have to let go and get out of the driver’s seat too! Trust in God and God alone, it is to Him all glory belongs.
What are you passionate about? People experiencing the true word of God as alive and active in their daily lives.
What do you enjoy doing when you rest? Spending time with loved ones, exploring new places and handlettering. - - -
