5 minutes with Lucy
Tell us a little about yourself My name is Lucy. I am recently married to a wonderful man named Sebastian. I love spending time with Bas, I love how we encourage each other in our walk with Jesus. I love being efficient and organised and do that 4 days a week as the missions administrator for Scripture Union NSW. What's your favourite bible passage & why? Romans 8:38-39 This world offers so many uncertainties and I love how certain we can be of the love of God that is in Jesus. How do you keep your eyes fixed on Jesus? I'm in constant conversation with him everyday. My relationship shapes everything I do and say and the desicions I make - that in and of itself keeps me grounded. I also have a wonderful network of Christian people in my life that constantly remind me of the hope I have in Jesus. I'm also reminded daily that my body is broken and very temporary and I can look forward to perfection for eternity with Jesus - that hope keeps me fixed on Him. What would you like the next generation of Christian women to know? Jesus! And play to your strengths! What do I mean? Well being newly married I have learnt that Bas is great at things that I'm not so great at and I'm great at things he is not so great at, we have different strengths. I don't have to be Wonder Woman and be great at everything, play to your strengths!! We don't have to be good at everything and we are not called to be good at everything, we are a part of the body of Christ and we can work together to accomplish much more than we could ever do on our own. Know your strengths, use them and delegate well! What did you learn about God at a time in your life you found hard? In August of 2011 I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes this was an extremely hard time of my life. I learnt lots. I learnt that God doesn't give us too much to handle even though at times it feels like he does. I have learnt that despite circumstances God is always in total control. I have learnt that God uses our hard times to bring himself glory. I have been placed in countless situations where I have been able to encourage others and share with them the hope I have in Jesus even though some days are extremely hard living with chronic illness. What are you passionate about? Loving Jesus and making him know to others, loving my husband well, reminding him he is more important than what he does! I'm passionate about seeing even more towns on NSW coastline being filled with teams of people sharing Jesus. What do you enjoy doing when you rest? I love spending time with Bas and catching up with friends, watching a good tv series and baking.
