5 minutes with Kylie ...

- Tell us a little about you

I’ve never had a cup of coffee. Coffee smells funny. I feel like a bit of a fraud when people invite me out for coffee, coz I order tea.

Apparently I’m a psychologist. I studied for ages but I don’t ever remember becoming ready to hold the broken parts of people’s lives. They keep coming back and say its helpful to talk to me. I hope so. I studied linguistics and theology too. I’ll study again some day soon.

I haven’t eaten much gluten in about 10 years. So now I’m all buddy buddy with amaranth and quinoa.

I’ve got 2 little kids that are cutie-patootie when they’re asleep. The 2 year old pronounces ‘hippo’ as ‘happu.’ Cracks me up.

I have a black belt in karate. And the only rowing race I’ve ever been in was against Olympians. (Hilarious). I want to learn archery some day too (Ok, so I pretty much just want to shoot like Katniss.)

- What's your favourite bible passage & why?

Isaiah 40:11

“He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that are with young.” I’m glad God is bigger and kinder and gentler than me, and leading me in this season that I am raising my children. Coz Whoa Nellie, if he wasn’t, the next generation would be in some serious trouble.

- How do you keep your eyes fixed on Jesus?

Audio bible. Wait… that’s fixing my ears... I try and read my bible for a few minutes every morning before the kids get up. Doesn’t always happen. I used to memorise chapters of Scripture in order to perform them as monologues. That was really great to let The Word sit in mind and heart and soul… I should start memorising again…

- What would you like the next generation of Christian women to know?

Ergh, this one hurts.

They may not let you minister, go to college anyway. They may not let you speak, prepare your words anyway. They may not let you preach, develop your gift anyway.

Be what God has created you to be, even if they don’t let you.

"...in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully." - Romans 12:5-8

- What did you learn about God at a time in your life you found hard?

Jesus loves me, this is know, for the bible tells me so.

Little ones to Him belong, they are weak but He is strong.

- What are you passionate about?

Social justice, climate care, leadership integrity, Christian psychology, compassionate communication, introvert havens, pursuing joy, new adventures, soft pillows, theme parks, musical theatre, martial arts, growing vegetables, chocolate brownies, and oxford commas.

- What do you enjoy doing when you rest?

Massage, movie, milkshake.
